Bodily Injury Liability

Choosing a limit for this coverage can be a complicated and overwhelming process.   In our litigious society, this limit can make or break you in the event of a severe loss.  Why not call our experts, and let them guide you.  You’ll be glad you did.

Property Damage Liability
Property Damage Liability Coverage pays for damage to other people’s property (such as vehicles, shrubs, signs, or buildings) resulting from an at-fault accident involving an insured vehicle or driver. In the event of a serious or multiple vehicle accident, property damage costs can become substantial. If you do not carry sufficient coverage, your personal assets and earnings could be at risk.  A quick review by our knowledgeable staff is just what you need to ensure proper coverage and peace of mind.

Personal Injury Protection
Personal injury protection is a mandated coverage in NY State.  Also known as “no-fault” coverage or PIP, it defers some of the medical expenses as the result of an injury for the policyholder and others in the policyholder’s car as well as the “insured” as a pedestrian, regardless of which driver was at fault.  In New York State, coverage begins at $50,000, and is offered with various options.

Optional Basic Economic Loss
In addition to Basic Personal Injury Protection coverage, you may also purchase Optional Basic Economic Loss coverage (OBEL). OBEL, unlike other coverage, allows the claimant to select the kinds of benefits to be paid. OBEL coverage is available to you, relatives residing in your household, occupants of your car, and pedestrians when injured in an auto accident. OBEL pays up to $25,000 after the Basic Personal Injury Protection coverage limit of $50,000 has been used.

Medical Payments
Medical Payments coverage pays for reasonable and necessary medical, surgical, x-ray, dental services, prosthetic devices, ambulance, hospital, and professional nursing and funeral services incurred within one year from the date of the accident for you, relatives residing in your household, and guest passengers occupying your car when injured in a motor vehicle accident Medical Payments also protects you, and relatives residing in your household, if injured while in other vehicles or if injured by a car while a pedestrian.

Uninsured Motorist
Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury pays damages you are legally entitled to recover because of bodily injury or death caused by uninsured or hit-and-run motorists. This coverage only applies to accidents that occur in the state of New York.  New York is a tourist hot-spot, and other states and countries may require lower, or no insurance.  Uninsured Motorist coverage will protect you in these cases.

Supplementary Uninsured Motorist
New York Supplementary Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists coverage pays damages that you, relatives residing in your household, and passengers in the insured vehicle are legally entitled to recover because of bodily injury or death caused by an uninsured, underinsured, or hit-and-run vehicle.

In choosing an appropriate limit, you may want to consider your ability to pay your medical expenses and to meet your financial obligations if you are injured in a vehicle accident with an uninsured, underinsured, or hit-and-run vehicle.

Comprehensive coverage pays for loss or damage to your vehicle caused by fire, theft, vandalism, hail, windstorm, riot, falling objects, flood, collision with an animal, and other events as stated in your policy contract.  If you have comprehensive coverage you may elect to have no deductible for damage to your vehicle’s safety glass. Collision coverage pays for accidental damage to your insured vehicle caused by collision with another vehicle or stationary object. Collision does not pay for incidents covered under Comprehensive (such as theft, fire, or collision with an animal). Deductibles are offered for  Collision coverage at various levels, and our experts are ready and able to give you their best advice.

This coverage is purchased in combination with collision or comprehensive coverage, and it offers you reimbursement of your cost for towing of your disabled vehicle to the nearest repair facility.

Rental Reimbursement
Rental Reimbursement coverage, also available with collision or comprehensive coverage,  provides benefits toward your rental vehicle costs when your vehicle is disabled longer than 24 hours as the result of covered damage such as a fire, flood, or collision. Rental Reimbursement is an optional coverage. If you can’t be without transportation you will want to consider carrying this coverage.
